So while perusing CNN during a long build, I found this article about bad tech based movies. Being a certified nerd, I have a good hardy chuckle at bad tech movies and was wondering if anyone could add to the list.

Now I know Transformers isn’t a tech movie but there was a line which sticks in my craw. When the way-too-hot-and-young-for-a-signal-intelligence-nerd Austrailian girl says,

“..we need to stop looking at Fourier transfers and start thinking about Quantum mechanics..”

ARRRRRRRH – it’s a Fourier transform not a transfer!

Now I have a reason.

So I am moving this weekend (if anyone wants to help they are welcome to) and I want to get Verizon Fios for internet and TV. Well unfortunately it is not available in my area so I am stuck getting Comcast again. I was checking out their prices online and I come to the installation fees. First they charge $10 extra for installing a DVR box instead of a regular box. Amazing, you are going to take virtually the same equipment with the same connections and charge me $10 more for hooking up the exact same wires! THEN, I get to the internet installation and they have a couple of options, have a technicain come and self intallation – the self installation costs $10!!!!!!! You are going to charge me $10 to run the coax to the modem and ethernet to the computer MYSELF!!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHH! I HATE COMCAST!!!!!

This guy says that the world is going to end tomorrow, June 12. So I am in a quandry, do I stockpile food, weapons, and survival gear and try to head south to a secluded area to wait out the nuclear winter, OR do I max out the credit cards on booze, cars, H&B, and other worthless stuff and just party like it’s the end of the world?

I was thinking about the Matrix today when I realized there is a really big flaw in the storyline. The sun is clouded out and the machines use humans as batteries. If they feed the living humans with the dead humans, and there is no other power source entering the system, then it is a perpetual motion machine. There has to be no loss in the system in order to recycle the “human” power.

That movie is so unrealistic…

So I always thought the GNU people were tools for making a recursive acronym (why, I don’t know I just feel that way don’t judge me). That said I was wondering what it costs to develop games for the Xbox. So I pull up Microsoft’s website to see how much the development environment costs. Turns out it’s called XNA, reading the FAQ’s about it I see:
