Looks like extra bandwidth for them means easier times for me/others who get the typical family computer questions…. Anyone use Copilot before?

Poker Tournament? Word…

January 25th, 2008 keith 8 comments

So I have been thinking about organizing a big poker tournament at my place in maine, $20-30 buy in, 20 people or so. I could get 10 people from portland easy but I was wondering how many of you would make the trek. Once people get out of the tournament they could just start cash games on the side.

This probably wouldn’t happen for at least a month, maybe more, but I will try to set it up if it seems like there is interest.

First Project Almost Done…

January 24th, 2008 rob 7 comments

So, the first relatively big project we have to complete at school is the shaker style night stand. Mine is almost complete and I wanted to upload two photos of it in case anyone wanted to see. (they’re camera phone pics, so they’re not as good as they could be, click em for larger view.) Also, on a slightly similar note, I’m trying to drum up some work this summer just so I don’t have to get a desk job. So if you know anyone, or you yourself, have a small project or some repair work, let me know. I’m only planning on charging shop time and materials.

I always used to think that Super Mario Bros. 2 needed a slick drum beat.  Well this guy did it.

Hundred Years War

Though this list is far from exclusive, here are some great shows coming to Boston. I’ve pulled any that I know would be sold out (that means you Dropkick Murphy’s), but all-in-all some great music coming through here:

Daniel Johnson – Roxy 2/20
Northern Mississippi Allstars Paradise – 1/27
Winger (sweet) – 2/23 Middle East Downstairs
Piebald’s final shows 4-18 – 4/19 Middle East Downstairs
Jonathan Richman 3/6 Middle East Upstairs
Coffin Lids @ Abbey 1/26 Lounge (PBR sponsored, should be interesting)
The Ramoniacs – 1/31 @ TT the Bears (local favorite)
Hundred Years War – Every Tuesday in January @ Abbey Lounge (my brothers awesome band)

Kinda cool concept

January 15th, 2008 cheeko 3 comments

Saw this concept car story today. I must admit it sounds intriguing. Assuming I own a house/condo with off street parking by the time this is out, and I work were I work now, I’d be able to do my daily commute and never need a drop of fuel, and on trips that I did need fuel I could run bio/reg deisel mix.

Then again this is the same company that killed the electric car, so I’m going to remain skeptical of this appearing in a GM dealership any time soon. My biggest issue with the Prius is that while its a hybrid, and gets great mileage, the factory setup doesn’t allow for plugin and TRUE energy conservation 50-55mpg is great, but I’ll gladly take 33mpg and much better performance. Being able to go 100% plugin would be sweet though. Especially if I can get a solar shingling setup on my place, that could make my car carbon neutral.

Just when you thought it was safe

January 7th, 2008 Yakov 6 comments

I’m sure most of us were relieved when the last intelligence assesment downplayed the possibility that Iran is developing Nuclear Weapons, thereby taking away the best excuse Bush would have had to pre-emptively declare any sort of military action on the country. Though I would not be surprised to see some new “reason” come about, since he does have another year in office, reports like this one are still very troubling to me. Especially the part where the US forces were “just about to open fire” on Iran’s ships. Though who knows how true the details here are and how much of it is meant as preemptive propoganda.

World Series of Beer Pong (Beirut?)

January 6th, 2008 cheeko 2 comments

Stupid naming conventions. Anyway, 295 teams are competing in Vegas this year for a $50,000 prize. I think perhaps there needs to be a PSK east entry in next years tourney.
